Your Dutch expression of the day

When it gets really REALLY hot, we have a saying here: "De mussen vallen dood van het dak."
It means: "The sparrows are dropping dead from the rooftops."

Looks like the weather is gonna stay like this the whole week: around 28, 27 C, which is 82 F. You probably think I'm a sissy, but that is pretty hot here. We usually don't get much higher than the low thirties (91-92 F), which we consider a heat wave if it stays on for over three days.

Today I spent a beautiful day at the beach in Zandvoort aan Zee. Topless even. Who'd have thought that a trip to your prudish country would help me get over being nekid?
Anyway, now my back is a little burnt, but it was all worth it. Then we went to Haarlem and had tapas at a cute little restaurant. Outside of course. All in all a very good way to spend a Sunday!
